About GetSafariTours

Independent Tanzania safari planning.

One specialist planner, a great ground team, and the time it takes to get your trip right.

One planner, one team, one trip done properly.

GetSafariTours plans tailored safaris in Tanzania, Uganda, and Zanzibar. We are small by design. You deal directly with our founder, Karlis Auzins, from your first message right through to your last day in the bush. In Tanzania, our ground team takes over: hand-picked guides, vehicles we trust, and a single point of contact who knows exactly what you came for.

Why travellers choose us

Four reasons people keep coming back, and recommending us to friends.

You talk to the planner, every step

When you contact GetSafariTours, you reach Karlis Auzins, our founder. He's the one writing your itinerary, answering your questions, and on speed dial through your whole trip. No relay through junior agents. No rotating contact list. No “the person who replied last week is on holiday.”

A ground team that actually knows your trip

Once you land in Tanzania, our team takes over. Guides we love working with. Vehicles in proper condition. Briefed on exactly who you are, what you came for, and the things that matter to you. They stay in touch with Karlis before, during, and after every trip, so nothing slips through the cracks.

Tanzania specialists, not generalists

Tanzania, Uganda, Zanzibar. That's the whole focus. We know the difference between the Seronera in June and in February. We know which camps closed for renovation this year. We know the migration patterns, the lodges that hold a quiet spot when you ask nicely, and the small things that turn a good trip into a great one.

Honest pricing and a planner who'll say no

Our proposals come with itemized, transparent pricing. If something is overpriced for what you're getting, we'll say so. If your dream itinerary will feel cramped or rushed, we'll say so. The whole point of working with a specialist is that you get someone who'll push back when something isn't right for you.

How it works

Five steps from your first email to your last sundowner.

  1. Step 1: Tell us about your trip

Send an inquiry through the form or reply to this page. Tell us who’s travelling, when, and what matters to you. “I have no idea where to start” is a fine starting point.

  2. Step 2: Karlis comes back with an idea

Within one business day, you’ll get a tailored itinerary, recommended accommodations, transparent pricing, and a clear answer to whatever questions you asked. Every proposal is built from scratch.

  3. Step 3: We refine it together

Want to swap a lodge? Add three days at a fly camp? Skip Ngorongoro and add Tarangire instead? We adjust until the itinerary fits. No charge for revisions.

  4. Step 4: Book with confidence

Once you’re happy, we handle deposits, coordination, and the trip pack with all the details. Karlis’s personal phone number goes in it.

  5. Step 5: Go and have an amazing time

The ground team takes over once you land. We follow up after the trip to hear how it went. Your feedback shapes how we plan the next one.

Our Tanzania ground team

On every trip, you're looked after by a guide we know personally and a vehicle we trust. The team is briefed on who you are and what matters to you, and they stay in touch with Karlis throughout your trip. They're the reason we can keep the planning side small.

What travellers say

A handful of verified reviews from people we've planned for.

From the very first message, communication was easy and fast. Everything was always available for any questions, no matter how small. You can tell they really care and know exactly what they’re doing. Once in Tanzania, everything was smooth. The lodges, the timing, the routes, everything was well thought out.
Leyre · Tanzania, 2025
Arranged a 10-day safari tour that exceeded our dreams. Took us through five of Tanzania’s National Parks. Expert eyes revealed leopards in trees, found lions after a hunt, and elephants, giraffes, zebras and more. Our lodges and tent camps were in amazing locations — comfortable, while listening to the wild animals around us at night.
Carrie T. · Northern circuit, 2026
The whole trip was perfect. The planning was professional and uncomplicated. You feel like someone really wants you to have such a good time. On our safari we were very lucky and saw 4 of the Big 5.
Franziska W. · Tanzania, 2026
8-day safari in the southern circuit. It was absolutely amazing, well planned out, and when we had troubles (I misread the domestic flight luggage policy) the team supported us and went above and beyond. This was a once in a lifetime adventure.
Elisabeth G. · Southern circuit, 2026
The dream started some 7 months before the safari. Always available for us, by mail or by phone, supported us on a daily basis to build up a program fitting to all our needs. The seven days were a succession of different landscapes, wildlife and plant life in such a way that every day was a new discovery.

Frequently asked questions

How we work, what we don't do, and what to expect.

Yes. GetSafariTours is a registered business based in Riga, Latvia, with a ground team in Tanzania.

GetSafariTours is a small, focused operation. Karlis handles all client-facing work: inquiries, itinerary planning, operator coordination, and post-trip follow-up. Viesturs runs the technology side. In Tanzania, we work with a tight ground team of guides we know personally. The whole point is that you always talk to the person who actually knows your trip.

Yes. We currently plan Tanzania safaris, Uganda gorilla trekking, and Zanzibar beach extensions. We only add new destinations after going there ourselves and building the right ground relationships. We won't recommend a destination we haven't personally vetted.

For peak season (June through October), 6 to 9 months ahead, especially if you have your eye on specific lodges that book up early. For green season (November through May), 3 to 4 months is usually plenty. For Uganda gorilla trekking permits, the earlier the better.

No. Itinerary proposals and revisions are free. You only pay when you confirm a booking.

Directories list hundreds of options side by side and leave you to figure out who to trust. We've done that work. You get one planner (Karlis), one tailored proposal, one ground team, and one point of contact throughout.

You have Karlis's personal phone number in your trip pack. The ground team is in direct contact with him before, during, and after the trip. If anything needs adjusting, that line is open.
