The person who'll plan your trip

Karlis Auzins

Founder, GetSafariTours · Tanzania safari specialist

You've just heard from me. I'm the one who'll plan your safari from your first message right through to your last sundowner in the bush. Same person, start to finish.

A bit about me

  • Years of regular travel to Tanzania and Kenya, originally for product work at Bolt, where Africa is a major market. The safari obsession came shortly after.

  • Multiple national parks visited in person across Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda. If something is on your wishlist that I don't know well, I'll say so, and we'll figure out together how to do it justice.

  • ITB Berlin and WTM London every year, plus regular trips out to Tanzania to spend time with the team on the ground.

  • Tanzania specialist. Tanzania, Uganda, Zanzibar. That focus is the whole point.

  • You have me on speed dial. My personal phone number goes in your trip pack.

How I got here

For years I travelled regularly to Tanzania and Kenya for my previous role at Bolt. Dar es Salaam, Nairobi, Arusha. Work trips at first.

My first proper safari, though, was in South Africa. The video below is from that trip. An elephant walked right past our vehicle, close enough to touch.

First safari, South Africa.

Later that night, on my first ever night game drive, another elephant came up to the vehicle just as close. The photo below is from that moment. Phone camera, terrible light, completely worth it.

By the time I got home, I was already planning the next trip.

What bothered me was not the safaris. They were extraordinary. It was how broken the booking experience was. Slow websites, email silence, agencies in Europe whose staff had never set foot in the Serengeti.

I left Bolt and built GetSafariTours so more people could have the same experience without losing weeks of their life to research.

What working with me looks like

You deal with me. From the first email all the way to your last day in the bush. Every itinerary, every tweak, every “could we add two days at...” conversation goes through me.

Once you're in Tanzania, my ground team takes over. Hand-picked guides who genuinely love what they do. Well-kept vehicles. Briefed on exactly who you are, what you came for, and the little things that matter to you. They talk to me before, during, and after every trip, so nothing slips through the cracks.

That's the whole idea. One person planning your trip. A great team running it on the ground. You having the kind of holiday you'll still be telling stories about ten years from now.

What clients say

In their own words.

Every step of the journey is met with punctuality, care and understanding. They were easy to contact prior to, during, and after our holiday which made any questions that came up a breeze to answer. I could tell that customer satisfaction was of utmost importance when it came to quality in our transportation and lodging requests.

Southern Circuit: this eleven-day tour was most successful. The program was altered to suit us, as arranged before booking. We travelled as a couple with a driver-guide and a guide who was also the cook. We appreciated the African dishes he made. The parks were amazing, and the animals were most interesting.

A very professional and organized company. I was in communication for many months prior to the trip, and was always prompt and helpful in answering my many questions. Our driver-guide was excellent, spoke very good English, and made our trip very pleasant.
