Itinerary

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be welcomed by a senior safari guide who will drive you to the hotel in Arusha for dinner and an overnight stay.
Arusha is a city in northern Tanzania and the capital of the Arusha Region, with a population of 416,442 plus 323,198 in the surrounding Arusha District. Located below Mount Meru on the eastern edge of the eastern branch of the Great Rift Valley, Arusha has a temperate climate. The city is near the Serengeti National Park, the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Lake Manyara National Park, Olduvai Gorge, Tarangire National Park, Mount Kilimanjaro, and Arusha National Park on Mount Meru.

Mid-range, Arusha Planet Lodge

Accommodation included

7:30 AM: After a delicious breakfast, you'll set off for the charming, tranquil Tarangire National Park. It's an expansive park with a diverse concentration of wildlife, especially between July and October when the Tarangire River is in full flood. If you adore elephants, this is the park for you. You'll never forget your first sighting of the majestic African elephant, the largest land mammal in the world; at Tarangire, herds of these beautiful, intelligent creatures roam freely, caring for their young. Additionally, you'll encounter a dizzying array of wildlife, including lions, giraffes, warthogs, ostriches, impalas, cheetahs, mongooses, buffalos, and baboons.
The birdlife is spectacular, too, and you'll catch the flash of a red-and-yellow barbet or gaze at the slow circling of the tawny eagle.
1:00 PM: You'll enjoy a picnic lunch at the picnic site.
5:00 PM: You'll drive to your lodge. You'll have plenty of time to relax and savor the African evening while enjoying a delicious dinner.

Mid-range, Tarangire Osupuko Lodge

7:30 am: After enjoying a delicious breakfast, you'll set off for Lake Natron, renowned for its salinity and the unique effects it creates. The microorganisms that thrive in an alkaline environment give the lake its russet hue. You'll observe salt-crust rafts scattered in the shallows. Over half of the world's lesser flamingos are born here, and you're likely to witness clouds of shimmering pink as the flamingos settle and wade in the still waters. You'll explore a fascinating terrain of salt marshes and freshwater wetlands with its distinctive flora, leading to sparkling waterfalls. The lake is framed by the remarkable Oldoinyo Lengai (Mountain of God in Maa, the language of the Maasai people), an active volcano that forms hornitos—amazing structures made of cooled lava. (We can arrange a climb up Oldoinyo Lengai—it's an additional day to your adventure. Just let us know when you book!) You'll spend the evening watching the sun set in shades of pink and gold over this breathtaking landscape.

This road trip offers a variety of sights: towns and villages, savannah, and forest. You'll have the chance to see animals like antelopes, wildebeest, and zebras. You'll arrive at our lodge in the Northeast of the Serengeti, where you can stretch your legs. Then, you'll enjoy a delicious dinner, preparing for a restful night's sleep, ready for tomorrow's full day of adventures.

Mid-range, Kontiki Serengeti Camp

Accommodation included

6:30 am: You'll rise early in a world bathed in the pink and apricot hues of the African dawn, as early mornings are the prime time to spot animals—especially the Big Five. But don't worry; you'll enjoy a hearty, healthy breakfast before you head out! The volcanic landscape is lush and fertile, attracting thousands of grazing animals and their predators. The high walls of the crater provide a protective shelter for many animals and prevent migration, resulting in a dizzying diversity. You'll see zebra, wildebeest, and cackling hyenas, among others. After a busy morning, you'll savor a leisurely picnic lunch near a pond filled with hippos and then admire the sights at Soda Lake: the flocks of graceful flamingos, as well as storks, ibis, and cranes.
In the afternoon, you'll depart for Lake Eyasi, just in time for a peaceful sunset walk along the lakeshore before a well-deserved rest at the lodge.

Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Meals included

Mid-range, Lake Eyasi Safari Lodge

Accommodation included

Lake Eyasi is a unique location; it is home to one of the world's 'last communities of hunter-gatherers' and 'groups of baboons.' The Hadzabe bushpeople do not cultivate food, raise livestock, or follow rules or calendars. They maintain a hunter-gatherer lifestyle that has changed little in 10,000 years. You will have the opportunity to observe the Hadzabe's traditional survival methods, including their hunting techniques, and you can be assured that nothing is hunted without being used in its entirety.
The Hadzabe way honors the land and all its inhabitants, and you will find beauty and peace in their lifestyle. After lunch, you will travel to Karatu Town for an overnight stay.
You will spend the evening reflecting on your adventures so far and relaxing with a drink as you listen to the sounds of the evening.

Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Meals included

Mid-range, Eileen's Trees Inn

Accommodation included

Another early start, energized by a good breakfast, to observe the wildlife as they begin their day. Lake Manyara National Park is nestled at the base of the Great Rift Valley escarpment and is a mosaic of varied landscapes:

This park is renowned for its elephants and tribes of baboons, who chatter and call to each other, seemingly never pausing for breath. It is also home to the legendary tree-climbing lions, as well as powerful water buffalos, majestic African elephants, giraffes, impalas, and hippos. With over four hundred species of stunning birds, some of which are migratory, it’s a birdwatcher's paradise. You’ll enjoy a picnic lunch in the heart of the park, accompanied by the calls of the birds and the buzzing of insects as the sun turns everything to gold. After more wildlife spotting, you’ll bid farewell to the Lake and drive through Maasai bomas, baobab forests, and rolling savannah plains on the way to Arusha for dinner and an overnight stay.
