Chimpanzee Forest Lodge

About this accommodation
Chimpanzee Forest Lodge sits on 100 acres of manicured lawns, beautiful gardens, tea plantations, pasture, and indigenous forest, located just inside Kibale National Park on the Kamwenge Road, 23 kilometres from Fort Portal. The lodge enjoys panoramic vistas of Kibale National Park, ancient crater lakes, and the Rwenzori Mountains.
Originally established in the 1950s as the British District Commissioner's residence, the property has been lovingly maintained by a Ugandan family since 2003. Accommodation is offered in beautifully furnished self-contained cottages (bandas) with views of the forest and tea plantations, as well as rooms in the main colonial guest house. Guests enjoy home-cooked meals with freshly baked bread, seasonal homegrown fruits and vegetables, and percolated coffee.
Kibale National Park headquarters is just 500 metres away, and chimpanzee trekking at the Kanyanchu Tourist Centre is 10 kilometres from the lodge. Activities include tea plantation walks, crater lake exploration, bird watching, the Top of the World trek, and guided community tours.
