Ndali Lodge

About this accommodation

LuxuryUganda

Perched on the rim of an ancient volcanic crater overlooking the shimmering waters of Lake Nyinambuga, Ndali Lodge is one of western Uganda's most enchanting retreats. Set on a privately owned 1,000-acre estate of rolling farmland, tea plantations, and tropical forest, the lodge commands sweeping views of the Rwenzori Mountains — the legendary "Mountains of the Moon" — and a chain of crater lakes stretching to the horizon. Founded by the Price family in 1996, Ndali remains lovingly owner-operated, lending it an intimacy and warmth that larger properties simply cannot match.

The eight stone-and-thatch cottages blend English country-house charm with an unmistakably African setting. There is no mains electricity by design: evenings unfold by candlelight and storm lantern, lending dinner a genuinely romantic atmosphere. Four-course meals are prepared from ingredients grown on the farm — freshly squeezed passion fruit juice at breakfast, home-baked bread with wild honey, and inventive evening menus that guests consistently rank among the best they experience in Uganda.

Ndali Lodge is ideally positioned as a base for chimpanzee tracking in Kibale Forest National Park, just 40 minutes away by road. Guests can also visit the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, tour local tea estates, or simply lose themselves in the extraordinary birdlife — over 325 species have been recorded in the surrounding forests.
