Africa Safari Lake Natron

Africa Safari Lake Natron is a lodge-style camp on the edge of Lake Natron, inside the Lake Natron Game Controlled Area, with Ol Doinyo Lengai filling the view to the south. It is one of the larger and better-equipped places to stay in the area and is open all year.

Rooms come in three styles. The ten Safari Comfort bungalows are permanent, air-conditioned rooms with a king-size bed and a single bed, a walk-in shower and a terrace facing the lake. Nine air-conditioned Safari Luxury Glamping tents stand on raised wooden decks and sleep two, four or six, which works well for families. Five basic Safari Tents with shared bathrooms suit travellers on a tighter budget.

The swimming pool, with sunbeds and a direct view of the volcano, is the place to be in the heat of the day. The raised restaurant and bar look out over the lake, where giraffe and zebra often wander past, and both have free Wi-Fi. Maasai guides from Engaresero village lead the excursions: the walk to the flamingos, the Ngare Sero waterfall, the hominid footprints, village walks and the Lengai climb.
