Ang'ata Ngorongoro Camp is a serene retreat set on the lush highlands of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, beautifully situated under acacia trees on the southeastern edge of the Ngorongoro Crater at an altitude of 2,310 meters.
Located on the eastern rim of the crater close to Lemala Gate, this intimate camp offers early access for game drives into the crater, allowing guests to explore this UNESCO World Heritage Site when it's least crowded.
This is their smallest camp with 8 guest tents including a 2-tent family unit, plus lounge and dining tents. Each guest tent has an en-suite bathroom with shower, vanity desk, and flush toilet. Due to the altitude, nights can be cold (4-5 degrees Celsius), but guests are provided with fleece jackets and hot water bottles.
Activities include guided crater game drives to see the Big Five, flamingos, and diverse wildlife, hikes to Empakaai Crater, Maasai village visits, donkey riding, crater rim walks with armed rangers, and bush lunches on the crater floor.
Ngorongoro Conservation Area combines dramatic highland scenery with access to the world-famous Ngorongoro Crater. The crater floor supports dense wildlife populations and excellent Big Five potential, including chances to spot black rhino in an extraordinary setting.
